Plotting points is when you get data, a domain and range, and plot them onto a graph whether to see whether it's a function, to compare data, or just for the fun of it. I know what you're thinking: "How can plotting points be fun?" Well, my friend, i have just answered that question.
Artists can use plotting in a number of ways. They can plot on a graph with different things, and even make a picture out of all of the points. But there is one method of art that can be used in plotting that might actually be very beneficial to everyday drawings. This method is called the Direction, Point, Plot method, or DPP. First, the artist chooses the direction that he wants the certain thing to draw face. Then, he plots the spots of the key points of the thing, then sketches or draws around them, using the connecting lines as guidlines. This isn't exactly plotting on a graph, or using math to figure out formulas. But it is plotting points.
